The Kick-off Program is the first big national DepEd event hosted by the Schools Division of Candon City and Candon City.
"This is a historic moment for Candon City," Mayor Singson declared, expressing gratitude to DepEd Secretary Juan Edgardo "Sonny" Angara for choosing the city to host the event.
He also acknowledged the commitment and dedication of attendees who braved Typhoon Enteng to participate in the said event.
The mayor emphasized the city's commitment to providing a conducive learning environment for all, from preschool to college, through initiatives like infrastructure support.
The mayor also highlighted the strong collaboration between the Local Government Unit (LGU) and DepEd, demonstrating a shared commitment to serving the best interests of learners in the city as he announced the city's upcoming scholarship program for teachers in pursuing master's and doctoral degrees in Math and Science, a move aligned with the national drive to strengthen Science Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics skills.
"We continue to champion programs for the best interest of our teachers, who are the architects of the future," he emphasized.
The National Teachers' Month kick-off in Candon City served as a platform for recognizing the invaluable contributions of teachers. "May your experience here reflect our deepest respect and appreciation," he concluded
The event also served as a platform for Candon City to showcase the city's capabilities in hosting large- scale national events.
The city hopes to continue hosting such events in the future, further solidifying its position as a hub for education in the region.
